When you book Tarureka Estate for your wedding, you are securing one of the oldest and largest barns in New Zealand. Tarureka Estate offers stunning indoor and outdoor ceremony options, as well as the convenience of booking the grand Homestead accommodation that can sleep up to 18 of your guests privately on site. 

Venue hire of the Loft Barn gives you full access to the Barn and Estate grounds from the day before your wedding, up until 2pm the day after your wedding (on the weekend). We have fantastic caterers that you can book for your wind down celebrations the day after.

Beth, co-owner and wedding planner of Tarureka Estate, is on hand the day before and day of your wedding to assist with any last-minute seating changes and to help set up and finesse your wedding décor.

After many years of operating as a successful wedding venue, Tarureka Estate has amassed an impressive collection of items, from space enhancing antique mirrors, chandeliers and fairy lights, to practical necessities, such as sun umbrellas, mics and speakers. You are welcome to full access to all items when you book Tarureka Estate for your wedding day.

Your Wedding Ceremony 

Tarureka Estate offers exceptional and breathtaking private grounds for your dream ceremony to take place. Host your idyllic outdoor wedding ceremony on the soft leafy grove, surrounded by historic trees and native birds, or on the spacious tennis court lawn in front of the grand Homestead. For a more intimate affair, there is Lola’s charming rose-bordered courtyard with The Loft Barn positioned impressively in the backdrop.

For an indoor ceremony, the stunning totara-lined second storey of The Loft Barn is always a popular choice. It can withstand any weather changes and comfortably accommodate up to 120 guests. After your wedding ceremony, the Loft gets transformed into a captivating dining space for your reception. 

All Seasons Weddings

Tarureka Estate is a sought-after wedding venue in the summer months. But do not worry if you cannot lock in your preferred Summer date, we cater to couples throughout the year and offer fantastic mid-week and winter wedding packages.  

The Loft Barn offers a cosy and romantic atmosphere with its large wood fire burner, grand totara wooden beams and sparkling fairy lights. Even throughout the winter months, the Wairarapa can be pleasantly calm, so outdoor ceremonies are still possible. Guests are often able to sip their champagne in the winter sun before heading into the Loft Barn at dusk for dinner and dancing.        

The Estate makes a versatile wedding venue, no matter the season. With plenty of lush outdoor space and one of New Zealand’s largest renovated barns – you’re perfectly covered, whatever the time of year.

Alcohol and Catering

The good news is that for no extra cost you are welcome to BYO beverages, which we are happy to store and chill for you. If you’re after a keg – no problem, we can even be on hand to help collect and drop the barrels off for you once the wedding wraps.

As wine aficionados, we know a good tipple, and have partnered with local wineries On Giants’ Shoulders and Ata Rangi. So, if you’re after a little wine guidance we can help organise wine packages for your wedding day or arrange for you to speak with the experts directly.

We work with the wonderful team at Brac and Bow who work cohesively with your style and budget, they offer a comprehensive menu selection that you can customise to create the perfect cuisine offering.
