It is set in four acres of gardens, including formal rose gardens, historic trees, private glades, a lawn tennis court and croquet and petanque areas. There are barbecue facilities on the sunny deck. The Homestead has recently been refurbished and is centrally heated.

Fifty minutes drive from Wellington, Tarureka Estate is a few minutes out of Featherston and close to the vineyards and restaurants of Martinborough, the historic village of Greytown and Tauherenikau race course. Featherston itself is a charming, almost untouched, historic town with top class eateries and cafes.
