If you had to describe Palliser wines in three words, what would they be?

Delicious, vibrant, elegant

What makes Martinborough such a special place for making wine? 

Being an open valley to the south, similar to Wellington, we are prone to wild and heavy southerly winds that have a direct influence on our wines, unlike any other wine region in New Zealand.

Is there one Palliser wine you think everyone should try at least once?

That's a tough choice, but I'd say our Pinot Noir. It's the wine that best tells the story of Palliser Estate and Martinborough, with beautiful balance, depth and drinkability.

If a couple wanted to serve just a sparkling, white and red at their wedding, how would you go about choosing the three?

Griffin, Chardonnay & Pinot Noir are my choices! However, Pinot Gris may be a more versatile white option across a group of people.

Is there a wine you find is always a crowd-pleaser at weddings? 

Bubbles, from the first drink, to the celebratory toasts, it easily crosses occasions and gender.

Do couples need to worry about pairing every wine perfectly with their menu, or can they keep it much simpler than that?

Keep it simple, a wedding is more about the coming together of friends and family to share in the couples special day.

What's one mistake couples often make when choosing wine for a wedding?

Trying to please everyone.  It is their day.

We obviously LOVE having beautiful local Wairarapa wine being poured at Tarureka — what do you love about being part of weddings and celebrations happening just down the road from the vineyard?

We know couples are drawn to Tarureka by the beautiful Wairarapa backdrop, and our wines play a key role in bringing that local story to life. Being able to share a taste of Martinborough with guests as they celebrate one of life's biggest milestones is something we're really proud of.
