Skincare- numa body & skin club
Wedding skin, what to do, what not to do — and when on earth to start. We asked the team at Numa to talk us through their approach to skin, getting wedding-ready, and the little things that can make all the difference.
For anyone who hasn't been to Numa before, how would you describe what you do and what makes Numa a little different?
We’re New Zealand’s first Skin & Body Club, operating much like a skin gym. We offer memberships with benefits, alongside a non-club price list for one-off treatments.
Our focus is on working out your facial systems — muscles, lymphatic and circulatory — to help maintain the wellbeing of your skin.
We look at each client holistically, which allows us to create long-term change and solutions for skin and wellbeing, using results-driven products and treatments.
What's the one treatment at Numa you find yourself recommending again and again?
At the moment, our favourite is the Lymphatic Compression Facial. It’s such a beautiful facial experience that always leaves clients with a brilliant skin result, while still feeling completely pampered.
It’s 1.5 hours and includes reflexology.
What do you love most about what you've created with Numa?
That we've created something different from anything else currently on offer in New Zealand.
THE WEDDING SKIN PLAN
If a bride wants her skin looking its absolute best on her wedding day, when should she start thinking about skincare?
It depends on your skin condition before the wedding and how much improvement you want, but usually around three months.
If you think about the skin's lifecycle running in roughly 30-day turnarounds, three months is only three cycles. So the longer you give your skin to change, the better.
What are the biggest skincare mistakes you see brides making in the lead-up to their wedding?
Often, not exfoliating enough and not supporting their skin with good eating habits in the lead-up.
What are the most popular treatments you see brides having at Numa?
Our Change Dermal Needling Facial or our Lymphatic Compression Facial.
Are there any treatments or products you wouldn't recommend trying for the first time close to the wedding?
Brow lamination and tinting. Try these further out first so you know whether you like the result
THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
The Night Before
Exfoliate?
Usually, yes — either the night before or the morning of.
Face Mask?
Not essential. A serum, oil or cream mask can give you the same hydration boost
Retinol?
Only if you're already using it.
Wedding morning
Moisturise before your makeup artist arrives?
Yes. They can always add more if needed.
Ice roller?
Try lymphatic brushing or Gua Sha over the face and neck, followed by a cold cleanse.
And the unexpected wedding- week pimple?
DON’T PICK IT
A broken skin texture is harder for your makeup artist to cover than a bump.
