Winter weddings

indoor ceremony

”warm, cosy, grand, luxurious and great fun”
Tarureka is much sought after as a wedding venue in the summer months. We are thrilled that it is now almost as popular in the winter – because we believe it is the perfect winter wedding venue. The cosy wood fire ensures that everyone is very warm, no matter what the weather outside, and the sparkling lights and glowing totara beams create a wonderfully romantic atmosphere.

The weather in winter in the Wairarapa is surprisingly settled and outdoor ceremonies are still a possibility, with guests often able to sip champagne in the winter sun before going into the Loft at dusk for dining and dancing. The flexibility of being able to decide at the last minute on the location of the ceremony – either in our beautiful gardens or in the upstairs grandeur of the Loft – is another advantage of a winter wedding at Tarureka.

The cottage is sometimes available for winter accommodation – just ask.

From Jonathan, who married Doris at Tarureka in a winter wedding:
I’ve been meaning to write for ages to say how much we loved the Tarureka Estate for our wedding weekend.
There aren’t enough superlatives to cover it off. All my family and several friends who stayed absolutely loved it … it was warm, cosy, grand, luxurious and great fun. We wanted for nothing in the house and over all it was a wonderful, happy and memorable weekend.
